Cuyahoga Falls Police Department

310 2nd St, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221

The Vision

In law enforcement's high-stress environment, the department’s goals was to reduce stress and improve productivity by integrating therapy dogs. These dogs provide non-invasive emotional support, helping to alleviate stress-related issues. Partnering with K9s for Warriors, the department received a fully trained therapy dog, that arrived in June 2025.

The programs aims to enhance the well-being, mental health and overall resilience of law enforcement officers, staff and the communities they serve. This program introduces specifically trained therapy dogs to provide emotional support, stress relief, and comfort to law enforcement professionals; especially in high pressure and trauma-related situations, crime victims, the community and the citizens they serve.

The Design

The Cuyahoga Falls Police Department teamed up with us at DWA Recreation to transform their courtyard greenspace to the renovation of their dreams. These improvements include a new handicap accessible door, low maintenance sustainable K9 turf, benches, bark park agility equipment, a waste station, shades and a photo opportunity for tour groups and department visitors.

A Bark Park offers numerous physical and mental health advantages for dogs through exercise and social interaction, while also providing a sense of community among pet owners. These features provide a secure, enclosed area where dogs can run freely, engage in play with other dogs, and receive the necessary stimulation, which can help reduce anxiety and minimize behavioral issues!

Please contact Bailey White (baileyw@dwarec.com) and Taylor Laughlin (taylorl@dwarec.com) for more information on your community's future Bark Park.
